How AI helped us run interviews that are clearer, warmer, and more agile

Recruiting isn't a chain of automations. It's a conversation. Here's how we use AI to do our job better, without losing the human touch.

AI and recruiting: automating without dehumanizing

AI is already everywhere: from how we shop online to how we manage our finances or write a piece of text. At Shifta we decided to rethink how we find talent, knowing that AI is already changing the way people are hired.

We asked ourselves that question a while ago: how do we bring in AI without losing the human touch? Because while technology can help us save time, make better decisions, and create more agile experiences, recruiting isn't just a series of steps or a chain of automations. It's a conversation. An encounter. A moment where someone chooses to show up as they truly are, and expects to be heard.

AI can't, and shouldn't, replace that. But it can help us do our job better.

How we use AI in our process

01

Hi, we're Shifta

We automated part of the screening with an AI-generated intro video so candidates can watch it before the interview. They watch at their own pace, whenever they want, and clear up specific questions about the role, the team, and the offer. This brought us several benefits:

  • One consistent message: every candidate gets the same clear, complete information, regardless of how each interview went.
  • It's editable: if we change the message or update benefits, we adjust it in minutes.
  • It saves time: the recruiter no longer repeats the same thing in every interview and gains time for a quality conversation.
  • It centralizes information: candidates can watch it again as many times as they want.
02

You're being heard, not typed out

During our interviews we use AI tools that transcribe the conversation in real time and generate an automatic summary. Why did we roll this out?

  • Because it lets us be 100% present, actively listening.
  • Because it speeds up feedback, which gets recorded effortlessly.
  • Because nothing gets lost, and our reports are now far more complete.

The focus goes back to where it matters: the human interaction.

03

It's not just an interview, it's an experience

At the end of each process, we use an AI agent, the same one we use to measure internal climate and culture, to gather how the candidates who took part felt. This lets us:

  • Get post-interview feedback in real time.
  • Identify the moments in the process that create the most friction or uncertainty.
  • Continuously improve the experience for applicants.

More efficiency, better conversations

Since bringing AI into our processes, we've managed to save time without losing closeness.

Results compared with the metrics from the quarter before rolling out these tools.

And above all, we improved the quality of the one-on-one, because we use that time to listen, not to repeat the same old thing.

Automate, yes, but with purpose

At Shifta, decisions are always made by a person. We're convinced that AI didn't come to replace the human, but to strengthen it. Our challenge isn't to "automate everything possible," but to automate what makes sense, so we can devote more time and attention to what truly matters: getting to know people.

The selection process is now not only more agile. It's also more warm, clear, and human, using technology to our advantage.
